Father Christos P. Kanakis was born in San Francisco California and grew up attending, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in San Francisco, California, where he was inspired to follow the calling of the priesthood by Father Anthony Kosturos of blessed memory.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Religion at San Francisco State University in 2006, he graduated from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, in Boston, Massachusetts, and received his Masters of Divinity in 2009.

Fr. Christos & his wife Presvytera Jessica were married soon after and came to Saint Anthony in Pasadena in 2009 as Fr. Christos was assigned by His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos to begin as the Pastoral Assistant at Saint Anthony.

On June 6, 2010, Fr. Christos was ordained to the Diaconate by His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos in the parish where he was raised in, Holy Trinity in San Francisco, to serve Saint Anthony in Pasadena as a Deacon until he was ordained to the Priesthood at Saint Anthony on January 16, 2011 as the second priest.

On Sunday, March 10, 2013, Fr. Christos was appointed as the Pastor of The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Long Beach, California.

Father and Presvytera have two children, Garifalia Evdoxia and Panagiotis.
